I was wondering if it would be kosher for me to run a FA in parallel both here and at the MSPAFA forums. Just, have a thread in both places, choose suggestions from either. I don't see a problem, but I saw no reason not to ask.

Yup! Waiter Quest is doing it, and Fightems had a transitional period taking suggestions from both sites before graciously settling on Eagle Time proper.

I'm always gonna be grateful to authors for inviting their readership on board here, but wouldn't want you to lose readers over it either.

Good to know. Glad I only have about 4 posts from Respec(') to copy here, cause one of my adventures was well over 50,000 words by the time it was abandoned...

Our IRC is #eagletime on Esper. If you've ever been to the likes of #MSPAFA or #pesterchum, it's the same server.

I'm not gonna lie. It's been months and I still don't understand Hawkspace. Was it just an experiment to see how we would all rank pages? What are we, google spiders? It's just that I'm noticing a lot of thread duplication.

it was meant to be basically a separate forum that was on the same server but that didn't stick in the implementation.

and the function it currently has is a "just post whatever" forum where you post in a more freeform mode of posting without any feelings of obligation. of course that doesn't have to be the sole function it has because I don't have any extra say in it. It's a blank slate of what anyone wants to make it. Go dadaesque or kafkaesque or tiger style. It feels good to just doodle a graffiti on a wall sometimes.

Modderarily, it's firmly under the control of the Pharmdrugs account who I said i'd give the password to whatever successor wanted it and can only act based on a democratic basis (only things that are especially needing action by the community's pooled feeling will get acted upon, and any potential rules must be spelled out specifically so people know specifically what to do/what not to do)

Go post a thread in it right now, the first thing you come up with in that headdy head of yours. maybe it will result in some good ol' gabbing the gob, or a ms paint drawing. Only the future will tell and no one will judge you for posting Another Thread there. The one question that's out of place in the hawkspace is "do we need another thread like this here?" because hawkspace only wants more threads for Hwaksilptili, aztec condor-god of threads. go on. post a thread. peer pressure.

I apologize for being a clueless youngster, but really, what's up with this site? Why birds? Who exactly is Fact Seagull, and why is he eating my heart out?

The story is that, way back in the day, Wheatthins made a list of silly adventure titles.

One of those was Woop Zoop, It's Eagle Time and so, when we decided to make our own forum, that's the name we wet with.

I'm skipping over some details but that covers the basics of it, and also why you may see us spontaneously go "Woop Zoop" sometimes. I'm not sure how often that actually comes up on the forum, though.

Fact Seagull Fact Seagull is a seagull who explains facts, another creation of Wheatthins.

Well, way back in the day, there used to be nothing. But then Wheatthins spat into a spittoon and created the universe.

I'm skipping over some details but that covers the basics of it, and also why you may wake up in the morning and whisper to yourself "Woop Zoop" sometimes.

Fact Seagull The universe is infinitely expanding because the spittoon is really cold and the spit that is our universe is freezing. As most know, water expands when it freezes.

It's kinda been bugging me because I've literally stumbled upon this forum via random chance just yesterday, but is this forum derived from any source material, like mspa's forum is from mspaintadventures? Or is this whole thing just kinda floating in the internet ether?

Edit: Nevermind. First post here and I've already askeded a question that can be answered with minimal digging. Consider me initiated into the being on a forum thing! Woo!

well the seagull part was me. that was my avatar on the other forum at one point. also I had a penchant for stating facts.

after one time of something like that with some shenanigans/banter happening, gankro (later mdme sparklecakes) said "get away from me, fact seagull that haunts my dreams" then made a flash file with my avatar and a mix of randomly-appearing facts interspersed with foreboding/dour sentiments, set to a song from newgrounds called "sad loop." I sent them a list of some more facts/dours later.

tl;dr: gankro did it, here's the flash: http://dagobah.net/flash/fact_seagull.swf

XXXXXXXXXXXXX

e: another key detail for why eagle time is that Schazer took the adventure name Woop Zoop It's Eagle Time and actually started to make an adventure (but got like five updates in. still. that's the extra "schazer connection" to it.)

How do you mark a thread as read/unread? (sometimes i read a thread at school and school wifi blocks an image, so it marks it as read but i haven't actually read it)

Whenever I try to type emoji it just cuts off my post. I wouldn't use them outside pastes from the IRC highlights, probably. I was wondering if this is just a computer thing or if there's an actual rule against them.
