try 1=z 2=y 3=x etc, 0r maybe even a m0re c0mplex cipher. it might be a c0de that the g0vernment d0esnt kn0w ab0ut. if y0u crack it, if legal, sh0w the g0vernment.

if illegal, destr0y the evidence and never speak 0f it. when y0u find 0ut the c0de.

RE: [Law]: As expected.
It's probably not going to be a simple substitution, governments don't do that. For all you know, it could be one of those basically-uncrackable encryptive systems, like hashes. It's worth a try, though.

Repeat, but try solving like a substitution cipher.
...You fail to gain any legible messages from interpreting numbers like any basic cipher that does not require a key. Not to mention that it could be a 'modern' cipher. This likely will not yield results.

You still perform well at work. Nothing else of note though.

You earn 125 more credits. Nothing else of note at home.

No noteworthy news.

600 total units.

New Timestamp Option: Monthly Progression Until X: with X being any event of a signified stop.

(Vote for whether to repeat, change the monthly actions, take a realtime action before the 30th of the 4th month, or to change to Monthly Progression Until X)

Lower priority of decoding the messages; still record them and possibly work on it in free time but otherwise dedicate more time to overtime work and getting better at your trade. Continue monthly until any event of significance occurs.

Seconding. If it isn't a substitution, or any sort of basic keyed cipher, then it's probably uncrackable without a dedicated supercomputer. And even if you had one, it would still take a while.

Autoprogress Monthly Until Major Event: Repeat Prior Actions
You continue recording the messages but spend less time trying to decipher. It still fails to yield results.

You continue working well.

You earn 125 more units. 725 total. Nothing else of note at home.

No news of note.

End of month 5.
--------------
You continue recording the messages without fruit.
You continue working effectively with no major events during work.
You earn 125 units. 850 total. Nothing else of note.
No major ne-
...Near the end of the month you get a notice.

You have been offered a position for public logistical vehicular mechanic.

This would pay 175 units a month.

RE: [Law]: Moving on up.
Accept the promotion. Up how hard you are working, these are (presumably) new employers and thus you should try to impress them again. Continue recording the codes, and occasionally try to decode them but overall have them as low priority. I'd suggest trying to get a computer to dedicate to the task for us but something tells me that any computer that could be purchased in this society is probably heavily monitored. This may not be something we want the government to know we know about.

Continue monthly until an event of notice occurs.

EDIT: Since we already have a computer apparently try make sure that the thing physically *does not* have a network card in it. If it does, try to remove it.

Repeat actions, checking that the computer lacks a network card
The computer lacks a network card.

No progress with recordings aside from the fact that you record them.

You work effectively at the new workplace, which possesses more skilled workers than the prior one, without much of note occuring. It will likely take longer to be noticed or promoted in this workplace, but you still work hard.

You earn 175 units, ending the month with 1075.
No news of note.
The seventh month ends.
----
The eighth month goes as the seventh month. 1250 units.
As does the ninth. 1425 units.
Tenth. 1600 units.
Eleventh. 1775 units.
And Twelfth. 1950.
---
The end of the year has no special events.
---
The first four months of the 151st year post-'war' are also uneventful, aside from the normal recordings of that broadcasting and working hard at work. 2475 units
---
Recording goes as scheduled during the fifth month.
So does the hard work.
And your home life goes as normal. 2650 units total this month.
Nothing in planetary or colonial news of note.
...
The signal ceases playing...
...but you manage to find it on a different channel relatively soon afterwards, one fairly away from the progression of used frequencies. Strange.

Anything to do before the end of the fifth month on the 31st day?

Try to get to know some of your coworkers. They might know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who know's a guy's sister's hairdresser who knows a guy that could be useful. Otherwise continue as normal, working hard and on monthly until an important event occurs.

RE: [Law]: A shift in signal.
The change of frequency may be because someone realizes that someone is recording, or just a frequency shift for the sake of being one. Either way, you probably have enough recordings to be able to decode them, so just record the numbers every week or so from now on.

I agree with what the others say, but we should probably at least take a look at what’s in the shop since we have over 2,000 units.

RE: [Law]: Store.
To best accommodate the variety of non-conflicting commands, this will be done as a single month, with a 'real-time' portion near the end. Unless further orders do not facilitate this, or a different timescale is selected, Monthly until Major Event will continue as normal after the 'real-time' interaction.

Continue Recording. Try to converse and get to know some coworkers. Also, make sure to visit a store near the end of the month.

You continue recording, but still fail to decode anything.

You work well. You manage to talk to one of the effective workers at the public logistical vehicular maintenance hub you work at. They are fairly nice and help teach you about some of the less common quirks that can arise when dealing with some of the less common logistical vehicles.

Nothing of note happens residentially. 2825 units total.

There are no news of note.

You decide to visit a store.
What kind of items are you looking for at stores?

Note:Show

There are many types of television. 100 units would purchase a fairly small model. 150 units would be more of a moderate size. 300 units would be a fairly large model, where you would begin to have issues finding a place to fit it. A 600 unit model would likely not fit in your current housing. All models can access government channels. When combined with the small computer radio setup, the television's use could cause electricity sort of utility to be charged. It would likely be about 5 units a month for a smaller or moderate television, with increases up to an average of about 11 units for larger televisions.
  • Small TV: 75 units, 3 unit upkeep.
  • Moderate TV: 200 units, 5 unit upkeep.
  • Large TV: 300 units, 8 unit upkeep.
  • Larger TV: 600 units, 15 unit upkeep
